Failure Sampling with Optimized Ensemble Approach for Structural Reliability Analysis of Complex Problems

چکیده
Failure sampling is a structural reliability method based on modified conditional expectation suitable for complex problems which index–based approaches are inapplicable and simulation needed. Such tend to have nonsmooth limit-state boundaries or otherwise highly nonlinear. Previous studies recommended implementation of failure with an extrapolation technique using Johnson’s distribution the generalized lambda distribution. However, what works best problem-dependent. The uncertainty approach provides results particular problem limits potential effectiveness method. In this study, solution proposed issue that eliminates uncertainty. optimized ensemble forms uniquely weighted by utilizing predictive capability multiple curves maximize accuracy any problem. It was found produces solutions superior methods implementing previously presented in literature.

Reliability Analysis of Redundant Repairable System with Degraded Failure
This investigation deals with the transient analysis of the machine repair system consisting of M-operating units operating under the care of single repairman. To improve the system reliability/availability, Y warm standby and S cold standby units are provided to replace the failed units. In case when all spares are being used, the failure of units occurs in degraded fashion. In such situation ...
متن کاملRELIABILITY MEASURES AND SENSITIVITY ANALYSIS OF A COMPLEX MATRIX SYSTEM INCLUDING POWER FAILURE
This paper investigates the reliability characteristics of a complex system having nine subsystems arranged in the form of 3x3 matrix in which each row contains three subsystems. The configuration of the row is of the type 2-out-of-3: F. Each subsystem has n units connected in series. The system fails if any one row containing three subsystems fails. The considered system analyzed incorporating...
متن کاملENHANCING WEIGHTED UNIFORM SIMULATION FOR STRUCTURAL RELIABILITY ANALYSIS
Weighted Uniform Simulation (WUS) is recently presented as one of the efficient simulation methods to obtain structural failure probability and most probable point (MPP). This method requires initial assumptions of failure probability to obtain results. Besides, it has the problem of variation in results when it conducted with few samples. In the present study three strategies have been present...
متن کاملAN ADAPTIVE IMPORTANCE SAMPLING-BASED ALGORITHM USING THE FIRST-ORDER METHOD FOR STRUCTURAL RELIABILITY
Monte Carlo simulation (MCS) is a useful tool for computation of probability of failure in reliability analysis. However, the large number of samples, often required for acceptable accuracy, makes it time-consuming. Importance sampling is a method on the basis of MCS which has been proposed to reduce the computational time of MCS. In this paper, a new adaptive importance sampling-based algorith...
متن کاملReliability analysis of suspension bridges against buffeting failure
A reliability analysis of suspension bridges against buffeting failure due to gustiness of wind velocity is carried out using the concept of PRA (probabilistic risk analysis) procedure. For this purpose, the bending stresses at the critical nodes of the bridge deck are obtained for buffeting forces using a spectral analysis technique and a finite element approach. For the purpose of reliability...
